With one month until the wild rumpus begins, we welcome special friends Dune Rats and Japanese Wallpaper, plus Jack Rabbit Slim’s Jamboree winners Three Hands One Hoof, to join us in our forest frolicking.
We’re dusting off our hiking boots ready for this year’s expedition into the exquisite woods of Kitchener Park, an urban hideout with lush greenery and wildlife at every turn. There, on a stage curtained by towering pine trees, a most fantastic flock of music-making creatures – Flight Facilities, Hayden James, The Jungle Giants, and ASTA – will dance and romance us deep into the night. And in case you missed it, we’ve also announced that we’re dipping into the dark side vis a vis our brand new Wastelands Arena, where Chicago’s Aryay (OWSLA), Quix (NZ), Enschway (Syd) and more lurk in the shadows. Today, we’re pleased to invite more special mates to our forest frolicking…
We are Bullshit excited to let you know Brissie bonglords DUNE RATS will be getting loose and sharing shoeys in the sunshine with us on Dec 3! TBH we’re still recovering from the ripsnorter of a set Danny, BC and Brett pulled back in 2014 at Wonderland Supreme Court Gardens…stoked to welcome these longtime mates back into the Wonderland fold. The boys join us next month off the back off lording it up in the US/Canada with DZ Deathrays, and prior to that there was the monstrous Oz WACO tour with Violent Soho. With news just in that a new album is in the bag, we’re crossing our fingers they’ll give us a squiz at the new tunes at Wonderland.
We can’t wait to sway in the breeze under the pine trees with the lovely JAPANESE WALLPAPER. Melbourne producer/songwriter Gab Strum is sure to provide some real shivers-down-the-spine moments as he performs his delicate, effervescent productions. Japanese Wallpaper’s shimmering, indie-electronic tracks such as Forces (ft Airling), Between Friends and Breathe In (ft Wafia) have won him a stack of fans since he won the national triple j Unearthed High prize a couple of years back. Since then he’s toured with M83, charmed crowds at Falls, Splendour and Laneway festivals, and more recently played shows across Australia celebrating the release of single Cocoon, from his lateset EP. Japanese Wallpaper’s even started his own record label (Neat Lawn)! What a guy.Beating out stacks of bands across a series of months to win the grand final of Jack Rabbit Slim’s Jamboree band competition on Friday night just gone were Perth’s THREE HANDS ONE HOOF, who will kick off the day on the mainstage. The four-piece, who met in high school, have an incredible live synergy thanks to eight years playing as a band. They’re pretty stoked about their win and the chance to play alongside some of Australia’s biggest music names, said guitarist Jacob: “It genuinely meant so much! It was incredible to see all our mates come down to Slim’s and cheer us on. It’s probably the best thing we’ve ever done!” They guys make magic indie-rock tunes dusted with low-key jazz; get a squiz at their killer lead single Autumn here.
We look forward to welcoming back many of our loyal Wonderland party family to this year’s event, along with a host of new faces, for an evening of exceptional sounds and sights, and fabulous fun.
